We’re happy to offer a free phone consultation to talk through your needs. In-home consultations are offered at a flat rate of $70. If you move forward with services, that fee is applied toward your first organizing session. This helps to ensure dedicated time, thoughtful recommendations, and a plan that truly fits your home.

STEP 3: Receive your custom project proposal

After our call, we’ll put together a proposal with service options, pricing, and next steps that fit your needs.

STEP 4: Creating A Functional Home begins

When you’re ready, we’ll schedule your first session and begin transforming your space into something just right for you!

    What exactly does a professional organizer do?

    A professional organizer helps you declutter, sort, and create systems that make your home easier to maintain. We work alongside you to tackle problem areas and set up solutions that fit your lifestyle.

    Do I need to clean up before you come?

    Please don’t tidy up! We’ve truly seen it all and seeing your space “as is” helps us understand your everyday needs and challenges so we can create realistic systems that actually work for you.

    Do you offer in-home consultation?

    Yes. We begin with a free phone consultation to discuss your needs and determine next steps. In-home consultations are available for a flat fee of $75, which is applied toward your first organizing session if you choose to move forward.

    How long will it take to organize my space?

    Every home and project is unique. Smaller areas like a pantry or closet might take a few hours, while larger spaces or whole-home projects can take multiple sessions. We’ll give you an estimate during your consultation.

    What happens to the things I don’t want to keep?

    We can help you sort items for donation, recycling, or disposal, and can also recommend local donation centers and resources. A Functional Home also offers a one free car load of donation drop-offs per session, so you don’t have to worry about hauling it all yourself.

    Will you make me get rid of everything?

    Absolutely not! Our goal is to help you make decisions that feel comfortable for you. We’ll guide you through the process, but you always have the final say on what stays or goes.

    Do you provide storage products or supplies?

    We can suggest products that fit your space and budget. We are happy to shop for you or give you a shopping list — whichever you prefer.

    What areas do you service?

    Kansas City metro and primarily Jackson, Clay, Platte, & Ray counties. We are based in Clay County, Missouri and will typically travel within 40 miles of I-35 & 291 Highway interchange without additional fees. Additional travel fees may be involved if outside of this radius.

    How do I get started? 

    Fill out our contact form or call/text 913-706-6187 and we’ll be in contact within 24-48 hours to discuss next steps. Next steps include virtual or over the phone consultation, where we discuss your challenges, priorities, timeline and budget, then schedule our first organizing session.  

    What forms of payment do you accept? 

    Cash, Zelle, Venmo, and other options discussed during your consultation.

    What is your cancellation policy? 

    We understand that life happens! Please give 24-48 hours.

    Do you offer maintenance sessions?

    Yes! We offer ongoing maintenance visits to help you keep your home organized and running smoothly. These check-ins can be scheduled as often as you need-whether that’s monthly, seasonally, or just once in a while for a quick refresh!
